LAW ENFORCEMENT DISTRICT
PARISH OF BEAUREGARD
STATE OF LOUISIANA
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10:00 o'clock A.M., in the office of the Sheriff, Beauregard Parish Courthouse Annex, DeRidder, Louisiana, a public hearing and meeting of the Law Enforcement District of the Parish of Beauregard, State of Louisiana, was called to order after having complied with all legal prerequisites for notice of a public hearing and meeting.
Members of the public body present at said meeting were as follows: Mark Herford, Sheriff; Sara Franks, Civil Office Manager.
The substance of matters discussed was as follows: Sheriff Herford, acting in his capacity as Chief Executive Officer, announced that the purpose of the public hearing and meeting was to adopt the millage rates for the 2025 tax year, adopt and amended sales tax ordinance to update the language due to recent changes in the law, amend the budgets for the Sheriff's General Fund and Sales Tax Fund, for fiscal year 2024-2024; to review and adopt the proposed budgets for the Sheriff's General Fund and Sales Tax Fund, for fiscal year 2025-2026. The said budgets were made available prior to the meeting for inspection by the public and a public hearing was held. No members of the public attended the hearing.
The minutes from the September 10, 2024, meeting were approved as read.
A public comment period was held for comments on adopting the millage rates for the 2024 tax year. No members of the public were present to comment. After discussion, it was determined that the millage rates for the tax year 2024 would be set at 9.37 mills and 6.03 mills, respectively. The resolution was read in full and was adopted by the taxing authority members present by a unanimous vote of approval.
A public comment period was held for comments on adopting an amended ½% sales tax ordinance to update the language due to recent changes in the law. No members of the public were present to comment. The ordinance was read in full and was adopted by the taxing authority members present by a unanimous vote of approval.
A public comment period was held for comments on the amended and proposed budgets. No members of the public were present to comment. After discussion the Amended Budgets for the Sheriff's General Fund and Sales Tax Fund, for fiscal year 2024-2025, and the Proposed Budgets for the Sheriff's General Fund and Sales Tax Fund, for fiscal year 2025-2026 were adopted by the taxing authority members present by a unanimous vote of approval.
With no other business to consider, the meeting was adjourned by Sheriff Herford.
